Overview

Me in Japan is the guide the internet doesn't give you — three in-depth digital guidebooks and an interactive trip planner, written from years of living and travelling in Japan, not scraped from the same twenty listicles everyone else reads.

This isn't a PDF you lose in your downloads folder. It's a living, web-based guide you unlock once and keep for life: Big in Japan, the 26-chapter main guide to over 700 places across Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and beyond; Tokyo Table & Bar, the eating-and-drinking guide to 170+ tables from pilgrimage sushi counters to walk-in ramen; and Tokyo, the Listening City, the music-lover's map to 80 record shops, listening bars, and live houses. Plus an interactive itinerary planner that turns all three into a day-by-day, hour-by-hour plan shaped around your dates, your cities, your budget, your pace, and what you actually care about.

Buy it once, use it for life. Every future update and addition to the guides is included at no extra cost — as Japan changes, so does your access. There's nothing to install and nothing to wait for in the post: the moment your payment clears, your access opens.

How access works — important: your access is tied to the email address you use at checkout. Sign in at meinjapan.com with that same email and everything you bought is there, on any device.

What's Inside

Big in Japan — the main guide

The heart of the bundle: 26 chapters, 700+ places. Tokyo's neighbourhoods, where to stay, the experiences worth your time, temples and parks, onsen and tea rituals, shopping, food, nightlife, day trips, Tokyo with kids, cinema, and full chapters on Kyoto, Osaka, and Okinawa — plus active Japan, anime and collecting, view terraces, the Japanese pantry, culture and etiquette, transport, and practical notes. This is your complete orientation to the country, not just the city.

Tokyo Table & Bar — the food & drink guide

Two big chapters, 170+ places. From the pilgrimage-grade sushi counters to the walk-in shops you can actually get into; ramen style by style; kaiseki, yakitori, tempura, soba; the cocktail masters and hotel bars; and the culture of the izakaya. Where to eat, what to order, and how.

Tokyo, the Listening City — the music guide

Six chapters, 80 places. Record and cassette digging, Tokyo's famous listening bars, live music houses, and the guitar-shop streets. The city heard through its music, mapped for people who travel for sound.

The Itinerary Planner

Enter your dates, your city or cities, party size, budget tier, pace, interests, and dietary needs — and the planner builds a day-by-day, hour-by-hour itinerary using only the places inside the guides: hotel, meals, sights, onsen, train transfers, a list of reservations to make, and warnings under each day. Plans can be shared by link and printed. You can generate up to three itineraries per account — enough for a trip and two variations. (Deleting a plan doesn't restore the slot.)

Everything is web-based and reads beautifully on a phone in your pocket while you're standing on a Tokyo street corner deciding where to go next.

Sorular

Is this a physical book or a digital product?

Fully digital — nothing ships, nothing installs. You get lifetime online access to three web-based guides and an interactive itinerary planner, readable on your phone, tablet, or computer in any of 10 languages. Access opens automatically the instant your payment clears.

What's actually in the three guides?

Big in Japan is the main guide — 26 chapters, 700+ places across Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Okinawa and more. Tokyo Table & Bar is the food-and-drink guide — 170+ tables from top sushi counters to ramen, izakaya, and cocktail bars. Tokyo, the Listening City is the music guide — 80 record shops, listening bars, and live houses. The itinerary planner then ties all three into a day-by-day plan built around your trip.

How do I access it after I buy?

Sign in at meinjapan.com using the same email you used at checkout — access opens automatically, with no code and no password to set.

What if my sign-in email doesn't match, or I can't get in?

Write to [email protected] from the address you bought with, tell us which account you want to use, and we will move your access — usually the same day.

What does "lifetime access" mean?

You pay once (€33) and it's yours indefinitely — no subscription, no renewal, no expiry, no device limit. And as the guides are updated and expanded over time, those updates are included free. Buy now, and it keeps getting better at no extra cost.

How does the itinerary planner work — and is there a limit?

Enter your dates, cities, party size, budget tier, pace, interests, and dietary needs, and it builds a day-by-day, hour-by-hour plan using only the places in the guides — with meals, transfers, onsen, a reservations to-do list, and per-day warnings. You can generate up to three itineraries per account — enough for a trip and two variations. Plans can be shared by link and printed. (Deleting a plan doesn't free up a slot.)

What languages is it in?

Ten: English, Deutsch, Español, Português, Türkçe, 한국어, 繁體中文, ไทย, Русский, and Français. The product page is in English; the guides and planner switch to any of the ten.

Can I use it on more than one device?

Yes — no device limit. The same login works on phone, tablet, and laptop. Read the food guide at home, pull it up on your phone in Shibuya — same content everywhere.

Does it work offline?

It's web-based, so it needs a connection — but it loads light and fast, and any itinerary can be printed or saved as a PDF from your browser to carry offline. A fully offline app isn't available.

Can I get a refund?

Because access is created immediately and the content is digital, purchases are non-refundable once access has been used, as is standard for digital products. If a technical fault on our side ever blocks access, contact us — we'll fix it or refund in full. (If a refund is issued, access is closed.)

Do you book my flights or hotels?

No — Me in Japan is a guide and planner, not a booking service. It tells you what to do and plans it day by day; the bookings you make yourself, wherever you prefer.

  • Me in Japan is a guide, not a travel agency: it makes no bookings, and is not responsible for third-party services it describes.
